The Agricultural Development Council approved $97,853.66 from the Simpson County Phase I Agricultural Development Fund for the CAIP which will be administered by the Simpson County Soil Conservation District. The County Agricultural Investment Program is designed to provide farmers with incentives to allow them to improve and to diversify their current production practices.
This is a 75/25 cost-share program that covers a wide variety of agricultural enterprises in its 11 investment areas. The application amounts will be prorated based on the number of approved applicants. The investment areas include: Agricultural Diversification, Large Animal (beef, dairy, equine), Small Animal (goat, sheep, bee, rabbit), Farm Infrastructure, Fencing & On-Farm Water, Forage & Grain Improvement, Innovative Agricultural Systems, On-Farm Energy, Poultry & Other Fowl, Agri-Tech & Leadership Development and Value-Added Marketing. A producer is defined by the use of Social Security Number and Farm Serial Number. Tax Identification Number is no longer acceptable.
Application packets will be available February 9 - March 3, 2023 at the Simpson County Conservation District located at 1300 Bluegrass Rd, Suite B., and the Simpson County Extension Office located at 300 N. An informational meeting will be held at the Ag Building in the Jim Roberts Community Park on Thursday, February 9th at 6 pm. Participation in CAIP requires the applicant to complete a minimum of one(1) educational component. Further details are at the bottom of page 8.
Deadline for CAIP 2023 application packets is March 3, 2023 to the Simpson County Conservation District Office (only) located at 1300 Bluegrass Rd., Suite B, Franklin, Kentucky. Black drop box is available for drop off outside of the USDA door.
